About the Image(s)

This photo was taken two years ago at the Flamingo Gardens. I used my EOS 6D Mark II; 24-70 mm Lens; 70 MM FL; 1/200 Sec at F5.6; ISO 100.

I used Photoshop for post processing. I used the blur tool to get rid of the images in the background. Thankfully I did not have a lot of disturbing things in the background to get rid of so blurring and clean up was not as difficult as it could be at times.

Heather, Beautiful image of the flower, lovely colors. I really like what you did to the background it makes the flower stand out even more.   Posted: 04/09/2021 13:31:33

Hi Heather, The flower is nice, the position on the image is correct. I like the background, but feel the flower should be sharper. The original image appears to be sharper then your finial image. I like the image.   Posted: 04/10/2021 10:57:48

I think that flowers should usually be tack sharp. This flower is not and I am confused as to where you were focusing as it goes from almost sharp to not sharp and then back to almost sharp.

I would have used a flower without the dead part.   Posted: 04/10/2021 15:33:54

If you have Topaz Studio 2 - what I did was open it and click on sharpen, played with the layers a bit and I think there was some improvement. I also felt that the greenery at he bottom was overpowering the beautiful flower so I brought it back into photoshop and cloned some of the beautiful background over a bit of the greenery leaving a hint of it. My taste, I think it's an improvement. What do you think?   Posted: 04/11/2021 11:17:33

I don't see the revised version. But I do like your suggestions. Try posting the pic again. I am curious. Thanks.   Posted: 04/11/2021 11:46:05

A faster shutter speed or a diffused flash might bring the flower into sharper focus. The way you blurred the background helps. Cloning out the dead portion of the plant, since it is very difficult to find a perfect specimen, might be an improvement.   Posted: 04/11/2021 19:47:35

Lovely subject. I think you did a great job cleaning up the background and adding the border works nicely. I think you could crop in some from the top - not much though. I do agree with others that the subject could be much sharper. I also think addressing the dead area of the leaf would be a worthy improvement. Very nice work.   Posted: 04/17/2021 14:17:15
