The Beauty in Nature by Heather-Dawn Joseph

October 2020 - The Beauty in Nature

About the Image(s)

I took the bark from a palm tree, and a dried up leaf and placed then behind a paper black backdrop. I also tied the bigger bark from the top with a very thin clear wire and taped the leaf to the bark. I then used a soft box and other lights in every direction of the image. With the lights on the lower right, I applied a blue filter over the light to give it that blue look. I also applied a blue filter to the very low light which pointed up from the bottom to eliminate shadows but to give a very soft shadow to the top. I used PhotoShop to process. I also smoothened out the backdrop with the paintbrush to eliminate the creases in the paper keeping most of the colorization.

Equipment Used:
Canon 6D Mark ii
My settings were: EF24-105; F4Lmm; Focal Length - 6400 mm; 1/15 sec; F 5.6; ISO 100

It's different, the reflected colors and your layout makes a very nice image. Good image.   Posted: 10/05/2020 06:55:24

Thanks for the comments. I enjoy working with lighting and colors, and how you can manipulate the look of a simple object with lighting and its placement; even in the outdoor environment.   Posted: 10/05/2020 10:58:36
