Storm over the Name by Keith Parris

September 2020 - Storm over the Name

About the Image(s)

Background for This Image:
This is the other high school in Tyler, Texas that is going through a name change. In this case, the Tyler Independent School District decided to rename this school Tyler High School. I wanted to have photographic documentation of the name on the building before it is changed.

The name of the school that I photographed in August is being changed from Robert E. Lee High School to Legacy High School.

Post-processing Edits:
I didn't think to open Luminar 4 before I moved edited photographs on my hard disk drives; this caused the record of my edits to be lost. Therefore, from my memory:
From Luminar 4, Invoked Topaz DeNoise AI plugin
Adjusted Exposure and exposure curve
Increased Smart Contrast
Decreased Highlights
Lightened Shadows
Increased AI Accent
I can't remember if I adjusted AI Sky Enhancer or replaced the sky; I think I replaced the sky to show storm clouds
Increased AI Structure Amount
Under Details Enhancer, increased Small, Medium, and Large Details
Added lightning with AI Augmented Sky
Added a new image layer with my watermark or signature
Invoked Topaz Sharpen AI plugin
Exported to .jpg with long edge at 1500 and 72 ppi then verified file is less than 1 MB

Great documentary photo. I do not think it would be of much interest those who do not know the area.   Posted: 09/09/2020 17:15:23

Hello Keith... like your other photo - well done. Did you drop in the sky? I would have expected to see more clouds in the window reflections.

Even though this is a documentary image it is sharp and everything is in focus. I particularly like that you have a glimpse inside but is left wondering. I do agree that the clouds could have been reflected in the window. Good job.   Posted: 09/16/2020 20:31:20

It had not occurred to me that the clouds are not reflected in the windows. I added them with Luminar 4.   Posted: 09/17/2020 19:15:02
