Red Rock by Michael Braunstein

September 2020 - Red Rock

About the Image(s)

This photo was taken last week right after sunrise on a hill just outside Las Vegas. I went there to shoot sunrise but the lighting was horrible. I look West to Red Rock and saw all the colors. I used a 300mm lens on a tripod with a cannon 5d mark1/V.

A great shot, the only thing I would try is lighting the sky a little bit. The image is sharp and the colors of the mountains stand look great. A very nice image.   Posted: 09/06/2020 15:33:33

Great image - very impactful. I especially like the distinct layering effect of the different colored rocks. You included just the right amount of foreground. I agree that the sky could be lightened some as it is a bit overpowering.   Posted: 09/07/2020 17:33:55

The colors look artificial to me sorta like an HDR effect. I would try reducing the saturation to see if the colors become more natural. Of course, it is possible that the natural colors were that saturated. Otherwise, this is an excellent photograph.   Posted: 09/09/2020 17:47:38

Another great image and my eye does start at the bottom and works up to the sky - I like the dark sky so dont lighten it too much!   Posted: 09/16/2020 15:26:36

Great photo, but I agree the it is a bit over saturated. I would tone it down a bit and up the contrast a tad. I would like to see it more natural.   Posted: 09/16/2020 21:57:48
