About the Image(s)
I took this picture of this dragonfly a few years ago. I always liked how intimate the image was but felt it was a little too green. Working with blend modes, layer masks and a few adjustment layers I created what I hope is a pleasing color balance.

That works well. I don't mind the green, but I do like this better. I'll have to try this because I'm often unhappy with my backgrounds.
Dragonflies are so wonderful. I love their little faces.   Posted: 03/09/2020 11:23:20

Lisa, Can you give me a few details on how you did this.   Posted: 03/17/2020 19:47:39

Lisa, Thanks for your enhancements. I don't own the topaz filters. Which set would you recommend?   Posted: 03/15/2020 15:26:50

Brad, great job of creating a pleasing color balance. The composition is great.
Would it be possible to tone down the three hotspots of the dragonfly tail and the two circular tops of the vegetation?
Now, looking at the comments of the others, Lisa has come up with some good suggestions.

Henry, Thanks, an excellent suggestion. I am going to check in with Lisa to learn her technique as she nailed it.   Posted: 03/17/2020 19:48:13
Great photo and nice discussion. There are so many ways to do things.
What software do you use to process? LR or PS? You mentioned blend modes...
I use Topaz also but if this is a time to save money there are ways to do this in LR/PS.   Posted: 03/18/2020 14:18:18

Kathy, After hearing so many people talk about Topaz I finally bought one of their series. Now, if I can get it to work with photoshop I'll be set.   Posted: 03/18/2020 16:05:42
Excellent! They have tons of tuts on Youtube so you'll be using this time in a very good way!   Posted: 03/18/2020 16:18:16
Hi Brad,
I often use this technique as well when I want to adjust the background of an image, and I think you did a good job with the dragonfly. I like the subtlety. I like Lisa's versions also. Enjoy Topaz, there are many creative tools.   Posted: 03/29/2020 22:47:25
