About the Image(s)

This photo is part of a larger series I'm doing in Film Noir style. I'm having so much fun setting up my friends in different "film noir" scenes and characterizations. This composite was 11 layers.
I took the original in my dining room and then converted to a very high-contrast black and white. I added the window, the sign and the smoke to grunge it up a bit.

wonderful concept and execution!! I like it in BW.

The only thing I would do is new layer, change blend mode to darken and remove the halo around his head and back

I like the window and the addins, the smoke behind him see a tad much, seems like the smoke would be in font, not behind him.   Posted: 01/10/2020 16:52:48

Kathy, This is a really great image. I like the contrast and gritty quality of the image of the two people. Lisa has given excellent feedback on two minor issues with the image otherwise it is a keeper.   Posted: 01/13/2020 23:51:42

Ah, Brownie Duluc, you have the drop! Kathy, what fun you must have had thinking out the elements of this image, getting friends to pose, getting a window shot, etc. Black and white works perfectly and the lighting of the hands and faces is the focal point. Eleven layers - Wow!

Now, my problem with my tired old eyes, at first I didn't see the outline of the hand gun. Can you increase the contrast of the gun outline so it is more prominent, perhaps as much as the faces but, of course, hard to do with a black object. Now that I look at this closely again, I think I just scanned the image too quickly without registering the details in my brain.

Great concept! Keep it up with new ideas!   Posted: 01/15/2020 10:50:13
