About the Image(s)

This photo is not a composite. It was taken at night using a long exposure and using colored lights to design a flower. There were about three people using the lights while I shot the photo.
I'm including the before and after photos.
I did some clean up in Photoshop that you can easily see when you compare the two pictures.
Lots of fun!!
Kathy

Kathy, I have experimented with painting with light on camping trips many times. Your image is beautifully executed. I love how you preplanned the colors and shapes. I think you should play more with the original as the faces in it are very spooky and surreal. You've inspired me to preplan a little more when I do this.   Posted: 10/06/2019 17:49:07

Thanks for the suggestion Brad!! I'll play with it and see what I can come up with for Halloween, hah hah

Glad to provide some inspiration!   Posted: 10/16/2019 13:34:26

I'm sure you had lots of fun working on this Kathy. If your assistants are willing, you could work up a whole series of flowers.   Posted: 10/13/2019 09:13:42

Kathy,
Very abstract, I love the effect. These kinds of light painting techniques are so hit and miss and you never know what you're going to get (kinda like a box of chocolates). My favorite part of the image is the red part because it has the definite shape of a vortex and draws my eye in. I think less is more in this kind of image.   Posted: 10/29/2019 18:34:17

I love to light paint and light sculpt and draw with light -- very cool
The edited version is less distracting and pops more. There are few "holidays" but it has impact   Posted: 10/30/2019 00:21:42
