About the Image(s)

I found this unfurled fern on a hike in Maui and really liked how it spoke of its future potential. Being inspired by Lisa's transformations I saw a heart shape implied in the curve of the single frond and created a mirror image. I then recapitulated some of the spirals using the liquify filter in photoshop. Adding a Costa Rican beetle added just the right amount of color and I think helped offset the otherwise too symmetric image. What do you think?

I really like this image Brad! I love the composition and your vision for the heart shape. The colors just POP and ZING!
I like the sharpness of the beetle and the frond contrasted with the softness of the swirly background!

I love this!
The heart is perfect, glad that you have joined the world of pareidolia!
I love the addition of the beetle.

The only thing I can suggest, that perhaps would improve, would be to (1) to fill in the black gap in the green in the middle bottom and (2) change the red in the background to green to allow just the beetle to be in red.   Posted: 08/14/2019 00:44:39

Brad, this is wonderfully creative and imaginative! I really like the background leaves which you have curved with liquify and kept quite soft. And yes, the bug does add colorand breaks the basic symmetry.

Stunning work!

Lisa has some interesting suggestions.   Posted: 08/17/2019 15:09:12

Very nice Brad, I really like this. There is tension and calm all tied together. The symmetry is broken by the beetle and also by the uneven swirls in the background.

I agree with Lisa in changing the red in the background to green so that the beetle really stands out.   Posted: 08/20/2019 00:22:56
