About the Image(s)

Adelaide held a Light Festival and lots of this were bathed in light in the city. In one area there were these crazy blown up structures. The kids all loved to walk amongst them and bump into them. I took this candid shot of two random kids as they hugged one of the structures. It was something a little different for me and the challenge was to get a reasonable shot in the dark that was lit with coloured lighting. This was taken at 1/100th sec with my f2.8 24-70 lens.

Julie, great image with lots of human interest, especially with the happy smile of the child on the left. At first I wished you hadn't cropped off the top but then I realized it would leave a blank white spot in the upper right corner. So your cropping is good.   Posted: 03/12/2023 09:51:02

Thanks Henry. It is always difficult to take photos of bright things in the dark of night.   Posted: 03/15/2023 19:41:55

Hi Julie, I like the color of the output and the lightened ground. Everything looks natural. The only thing bothers me is the ground which lacks details when lightened from dark. So I darkened it a little bit, but it seems almost no difference   Posted: 03/19/2023 17:51:40

Really like this, you have the subjects about right and the background is fine. Great shot.   Posted: 03/21/2023 14:20:00

They say you should not have triangles in the corners of your photos. They are a cool pattern. You could crop them out and crop the ground, bat i like what you have done from the original.   Posted: 03/23/2023 10:42:50

Hey Julie, Cool Shot. I probably could have spent hours photographing the structures. My only advise is: Don't worry about rules (judges like rules but you don't have to). If you get a chance look up "Sammonisms".   Posted: 03/23/2023 13:30:09
