About the Image(s)

My attempt at street photography. It was a dismal day and had to find something to shoot.

Hey Catherine, I would love to know where this was taken.
You found a great location. Great stuff posted to that wall, I find myself enlarging different bits, trying to read what's on the posters.
I assume you had to wait a while for the exact right people to pause in the most interesting way.
I love the diagonal lines and the use of black and white.
I can't think of any way to improve it.   Posted: 03/08/2020 14:39:05

Nice atmospheric shot - gives a real feel of the location. I agree with Alison it works better in black and white. I would be tempted to give it a bit more exposure - I don't think (at least on my monitor) there is very much "white" in the image. Also perhaps crop a touch off the left hand side. What do you think?   Posted: 03/15/2020 09:23:07

Catherine, isn't street photography fun! I have often thought what a joyful life Cartier Bresson must have led capturing decisive moments.

You have captured a couple in which something has caught the attention of the woman - is it the graffiti or is it someone coming down the stairway? The viewer can make their own decision.

Sometimes I will find an inconspicuous place to stand or sit where people pass by something that may capture their attention, such as you have done here. Then I will make a series of pictures of different reactions.

I have even placed a camera on a low tripod, focused on a spot, and with a cable or remote release, captured people roller blading or passing over the spot. The pictures are candid as the people aren't aware of the camera. (If you are going to display or sell the pictures, for privacy reasons, make sure that their faces aren't recognizable.) So these are just some examples to spur you on to your own intuitive street photography which you do so well.   Posted: 03/16/2020 11:52:18

An interesting image that poses many questions. Did they ride their cycles there and if so why are they now walking. What is the woman looking at. What do all those posters say. A great example of street photography.   Posted: 03/18/2020 00:39:33

What a story! I have so many questions, but I like that as it always brings me back focusing on the two young people and what they are seeing and the graffiti. Great example of street photography, something I am not brave enough to try!   Posted: 03/18/2020 12:51:26
