Kimo Building Albuquerque by Andrew Hersom, APSA, EPSA, EFIAP

March 2019 - Kimo Building Albuquerque

About the Image(s)

This was shot using an EOS M1 camera with 11-22 lens at 11 mm. I still couldn't get everything in so had to point the camera upwards. The flare was removed in post, that's about it.

The way this is shot gives the building personality. It looms over us, the flare gleams, like it was some kind of powerful being. By contrast the light color and delicate decorations are a contrast to that initial impression.
So would you consider this street photography or landscape photography?   Posted: 03/09/2019 15:04:11

Possibly could be considered either but I feel it is more 'scape which is a catch-all for cityscape, landscape, seascape (and so on).   Posted: 03/09/2019 15:27:43

Having been caught out entering something similar in an exhibition, this is definitely "street". It appears cityscape has to be more than one building.   Posted: 03/21/2019 09:59:15

a nice structure composition ..would liked to see more sharpness in the intricacies though..   Posted: 03/13/2019 07:31:55

Andrew, I like that you pointed your camera up so that you get strong diagonal lines and included some sun flare. The southwestern details of the building and about the three windows are a focal point of interest.

I wonder, would putting more contrast, lightening the wall put more snap into the image?   Posted: 03/16/2019 10:58:06

I also wonder how this would look in B&W.   Posted: 03/31/2019 09:26:45
