So What? Squirrel by Susan Hendrich

July 2017 - So What? Squirrel

About the Image(s)

This guy appears at my window every morning around 9:30 with a serious awareness of his cuteness and a total lack of fear. His sense of entitlement would be annoying, were it not for the daily supply of birdseed I foolishly serve him. As I continue to shoot in Manual wherever possible with my mirrorless Sony A6500, Carl gives me plenty of slow motion action to capture. His proximity to me (maybe a half meter) allowed me to experiment with wide open aperture, low indoor ISO, and a relatively fast speed: 18mm; 1/60 sec; f 4; ISO 600.

Good picture of the squirrel but it's spoiled by the background, which could easily be improved by using the spot healing blush (with content awareness). The purple patch in the foreground is also distracting. If he comes back every day it might just be easier to re-shoot having first tidied up the garden area.   Posted: 07/14/2017 08:48:46

A very cute portrait of a squirrel. What is he laying on that is so white? Maybe you could give him a darker surface to lay on.   Posted: 07/16/2017 19:02:56

I love wildlife pictures. The purple spot is a little distracting. It looks like you have a double catch light in the eye. I would probably clone out the one on the left next to the edge of the eye. Otherwise I really like this photo.   Posted: 07/16/2017 20:19:34

The image of the squirrel is sharp and I was attracted by this cute animals at the first glance. Then I realized and agreed that the background was a bit distracting. I also realized that the purple thing is not related to the object that it is holding. Then I agreed that this purple patch can be processed.   Posted: 07/22/2017 09:56:26

The squirrel is so darn cute! You really captured the playfulness and what a joy to see everyday! Like most comments, I would try to get rid of the purple blob. The main background didn't distract me because that's part of nature. My eye focused on the squirrel. Nice, crisp, great shot!   Posted: 07/29/2017 07:25:24
