About the Image(s)

Technical: 1/125, f/9,0 ISO 200 at 31mm (FF)

I was driving, and I had my camera… it was holiday, so not too much traffic. I didn’t know this point of view, but when I saw it, I immediately stopped and took some pictures. I like this one as I have the impression of the long way to the infinity.
Treatment: classical correction of the optical, cropped and decrease (-85) of the highlight, and an increase if the white (+38). I went to SEP, preset 24.

Thanks for your comments.

Very dramatic and an apropos title. It is a bit like the iconic shots taken in Monument Valley. It is good the trees are at the far end, if not it would feel like the road was going off the edge of the planet. The B&W really brought out the clouds which adds to the dramatic feel. I am wondering if it had been taken from a lower angle if it would be even more dramatic. Great impact, well done.   Posted: 12/01/2020 16:17:23

Nice one Vincent. The perspective is interesting and draws you into the picture and to Infinity. I note you have maintained the symmetry on both sides where the road touches the edge of the frame, though you were not exactly at the center of this road. I see an overlap of the first marking or is it painted as such. Slightly brightening up the center divide I believe would help draw the viewer forcefully into the image. I like the look you derived in this one. Good light.   Posted: 12/14/2020 02:49:38

I love these type of images and have taken them before myself, but I have never done anything with them as they are not liked over here. But being an ex biker and love driving this is just the open road and I would just love the ride it. Great sky to add the mood. Well handled image and very simple. Well done.   Posted: 12/14/2020 05:35:12

Vincent, your bringing out the clouds makes this image for me. Looke like there is no place to park and lucky that there was not high traffic. Great catch and editing. I would not change a thing. Jerry   Posted: 12/19/2020 10:00:01

Indeed Jerry. I parked on the road with warring light, but it was holiday and not a lot of traffic. I wear my security yellow jacket.... Taking pictures is sometimes an aventure...   Posted: 12/19/2020 10:38:53

Having lived in rural New Mexico for years, I have seen and taken many similar images. Your B&W is a definite improvement over the color version, especially in the sky. There is a lot of emotional impact here, and I wondered if it would be possible to get even more, so I made an image where I increased the contrast and decreased the brightness. It's just a matter of taste - no right or wrong.   Posted: 12/19/2020 11:26:08

Thanks Larry. I like it.
It is sometimes difficult to choose and to stop the treatment, but I like your proposal.   Posted: 12/19/2020 11:28:24
