About the Image(s)

I shot this image on my iPhone 11 Pro Max using the app Camera+2. Color balance set to Kelvin. I used a Moment iPhone case and a Moment brand 37mm filter holder. In the filter holder I screwed on a 37mm 720nm Infrared Filter. Unit was hand held. ISO 1000, 4.25mm lens at F18, 1/23 sec. Original size was 4032X2846. Image was captured around 1 PM CT. Infrared loves the bight over head sunlight. My editing was in Snapseed. No Red and Blue Channel swapping was needed. Hope you like the image. I used imageResize on the iPad to scale down to proper sizing.

Great shot! I love the tones, the contrast, and the dark sky. The compositon is excellent. It's amazing how good images from a phone can be. It's strictly a matter of taste, but I dislike white foliage.   Posted: 09/05/2020 14:59:56

Where their is green foliage B/W infrared turns it white. I also another IR image in group #51. In color IR it depends what filter is used. In my IR converted Lumix Camera I have a color conversion by LifePixel.   Posted: 09/06/2020 09:44:12

The effect on the sky and water are great but I am not a fan go infrared on the the trees and grasses. The composition for the subject is very good, i like the flow of the water and sky through the image. Not sure what the buildings are but maybe they could be brought out more.   Posted: 09/05/2020 15:04:59

B/W IR photographers love turning greens into shades of white and grey depending on the light. I personally like the artistic effect. Your can see another image on group #51 phoneography group.   Posted: 09/06/2020 09:50:16

Very nice Jerry. I note the statements on the foliage part which is a personal preference. I like the surrealistic feel where the blues of the sky go deep dark and the greens turn to white and tones of grey. I like the effect and this style of photography during the analogue days it was much appreciated. Good one Jerry.   Posted: 09/09/2020 00:35:58

Another beautiful IF composition! This is well balanced and engaging, Jerry. Love it!!

Can you share with us what type of paper you would use if/when you decide to print this beautiful scene? Thank you.   Posted: 09/09/2020 07:05:10

Lance. If the print is going to be framed and has protective glass over it, there is not much difference. I usually use some form of glossy paper. I bought an IR print from Tony Sweet and he used a beautiful mat finish paper and it works.   Posted: 09/12/2020 05:51:47

You have chosen a lovely spot to take you picture and the IR has done a nice effect to the image. The shape of the river does lead the viewer nicely through the image and the clouds and sky complement the image well. However I find the foreground foliage is acting as a block for the viewers eye to go through the image and enjoy the view. With a slight crop from the bottom this image improves 10 fold.   Posted: 09/12/2020 06:17:59

Difficult to add something after all these comments, I will just give my opinion ont his image.
I don't take IR image, but I like to see one (or more) from time to time, as the effect is special and original, as it is here.
I really like the composition (lines of the river) of the image, and the black of the sky. Well done.
I appreciate less the grass and the trees.   Posted: 09/14/2020 14:49:50
