About the Image(s)

This view of Yosemite Valley was shot from the Tunnel view parking lot. If you're not familiar with Yosemite, there are two entrances to the park that run on the north and south side of the Merced river. After driving through a sub-mountain tunnel on the southern route, this is the view you are presented with upon exiting the tunnel.

This was shot with a full frame rangefinder set at ISO 200 and 1/160 sec. The lens was a 90mm at f/16. In Lightroom, I opened of the shadows a bit, increased the clarity for more mid-tone contrast and pushed the dehaze up slightly for more sky depth. The conversion was done in Silver Efex Pro 2 using the high structure harsh preset then toning it down a bit with the adjustment sliders.

Feels like standing there. The clouds through the mountains really give it impact. I would even like a wider view for more of that impact.   Posted: 06/01/2020 18:17:21

I can never get enough images of Yosemite. Been there many times and I can see why Ansel made this park famous.

What kind of digital full frame rangefinder was it?   Posted: 06/05/2020 15:59:27

This was shot with a Leica M9.   Posted: 06/05/2020 16:32:21

Beautiful image Steve. No matter how many images we see of this place, we enjoy it all the more. Good processing technique and specs makes this a very nice image.   Posted: 06/07/2020 03:12:29

Wonderful image! Although the subject is familiar this feels like a new look at it. The clouds and the narrow field of view make a strong impact on the viewer. I would of preferred less (or no) toning but that is a matter of taste.   Posted: 06/07/2020 08:37:25

What a wonderful feeling you have captured with those wispy clouds running over those mountains, that one running up the centre looks like a giant wave. I am waiting for Gandalf, Strider & Legolas to appear.
I would work on that bright strip of cloud in the centre of the sky as it dominates the image and pulls the eye and just below it in the centre there is a mark in the cloud that looks like a dust spot, I would remove it.
Wonderful image.   Posted: 06/12/2020 08:29:22

Very sweet image and treatment, specially the clouds.
We would like to see "more". Did you take more pictures to be able to make a panorama (if you like that of courseā€¦)?
The texture of the hills is well visible.   Posted: 06/16/2020 04:22:45
