About the Image(s)

I thought I would share this image because we lost our little, Angel Baby, (AB), a few days ago. She was a most precious thing, kind, loving, patient, and a little demanding. We had her for 12 + years and she developed diabetes, went blind, started having issues with her heart and more. Finally our vet said it was time, she was only hanging on for us. This image was with the vet about a minute before she passed.

I did very little with the image except convert to B&W in Lightroom. I think I prefer the color as the hands of the vet look very weird, can't figure out why but did not want to spend the time.

Hello David, you begin 2020 with a "bleak" picture and our feelings. I can imagine it was very difficult time.
At my opinion this is "more" a personal picture which meant a lot for you. The look between the lady and AB is powerful, strong & intense.
The light came from the back and the face of the lady and AB are in the shadow. I think it was not the main important element at this moment.
I agree with you for the hands in the color version. The crop in the B&W is, at my opinion, more strong as we are attracted by the "line" bewteen the eyes.

This is a very emotional image. The main elements are the lady, the dog, and the hands of the vet. If you cropped the left edge of the image and came in tighter on the 3 elements I think it would have even more impact. And I would like to see their eyes.
The vet appears to have dermatitis, probably from contact with some irritant, making her hands rough and red. It looks strange in black and white, the roughness looks flat.   Posted: 01/09/2020 17:31:49

I know this is a study group for images to be discussed for there quality and your ability at the time of taking, but owing to the circumstances this is not the place to do that.
I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved pet, but you have had 12 wonderful years with her. Having had to do this on quite a few occasions I know how traumatic this can be, so my thoughts are with you both.   Posted: 01/14/2020 07:02:39

Beautiful moment. Both images tell a story of love.

Having gone through same situation years ago, I truly understand.

The quality of the B/W image is incredible. It is my favorite.   Posted: 01/21/2020 06:27:25
