About the Image(s)

Technical: 1/200, f/2.8, ISO 6400 at 145 mm (FF)

I began to take pictures of dance some year ago. Now I like that very much. In fact it is my favorite theme in photography.

Here we were in the theater of our town (Namur).

Nb: the black on the back can differs on different screens. On Mac, completely black, on the second screen (not Mac…) not completely black. It should be black. I apply a second layer on black.

I worked with LR.

A Very interesting image with good impact. Strong black and white contrast. Not sure about the dancer who is leaning down if it adds or distracts. For this type of image it would help to put a think white stroke around it to make it stand out from the background. For the description it would be great to include what was done in LR for all of us to learn from. I like it.   Posted: 06/08/2018 15:40:33

Hello David,
Thanks for the comment.
Adjustment in LR:
Classic correction for the lens and camera.
Correction for the noise (6400 ISO) and sharpness
Classic correction for the level.... "Touch V" for B&W. After: Expo -0,65, Shadow + 55, white +40.
The most important: the brush (- 3,25 for exposition) to darken the background.
I agree with for the fourth dancer. Thera are "+" & "-". With the dancer it gives dynamism, less classic. I prefer with 4, there were also 4.
Have a good afternoon, and good night for me.   Posted: 06/08/2018 16:29:33

Your B/W image is true Fine Art. Show more of your outstanding dance images. The fourth dancer makes this image for me. Jerry   Posted: 06/12/2018 06:25:36

This is a very good capture of performers on stage. They look like Degas dancers. But this is a performance--yes? So is the performance representing dancers in preparation for dancing? Is the one with her back turned and hand raised pretending to be balancing at a barre?   Posted: 06/15/2018 21:50:53

Really striking image that is made by the lighting that is falling on the dancers. The dancers have nice separation and are all doing something different to keep the contrast in the image. This has a lot of power and makes for a nice fine art image.   Posted: 06/18/2018 08:58:35

Hi Vincent
beautiful mono rendition but you have an equally stunning colour image as well.   Posted: 06/18/2018 16:02:20

Hello everybody,
Thanks for your comments.
I like also the soft light of the color image.
That's was the beginning of the dance. No barre.

Thanks again for your comment.
