About the Image(s)

The Elevated train or better known as the ā€œLā€ in Chicago makes a Loop around the downtown area of Chicago and also carries passengers into nearby Suburbs. The system was setup in the late 1800ā€™s and has been updated many time. Our camera club had a photo shoot and road the ā€œLā€ for a day shooting with iPhones and full sized cameras. Including the hands of another photographer was set-up for part of the action. It was a cloudy and rainy day which kept the Summer heat at a comfortable level. The tracks are about 20 feet above the street level. I used Snapseed for editing and Camera + app for the Frame and Superimpose app to add the watermark.

In like this kind of Street Photography with folks rushing to get on the train as it is about to stop and other just waiting around and another photographing the event. I need to try more of this type of photography. Jerry   Posted: 06/12/2018 06:20:27

Very strong image with great contrast. The cell phone shoot in the corner is an interesting and impactful addition. It tells a good story of people and actions at the depot. The repeating patterns love and the leading line of the rail work for a strong composition. Well done, and yes you need to do more of this.   Posted: 06/14/2018 11:50:52

This is a great shot of this moment of time. For me it also includes a touch of genius by including the phone taking the similar picture. Your tones and detail are spot on and I sit here wondering what that lady in the coat is about to do.

One niggle as this is digital. The second outer white line does not work and detracts from the image for me.   Posted: 06/18/2018 08:44:52

Hi Jerry
Just wanted to compliment you on the way you have used the arms of the cellphone photographer not only as a great lead in but a very interesting lead in which immediately tells a story the shapes are strong and this to me is a perfect example of strong composition great image well seen and superbly executed.   Posted: 06/18/2018 16:00:16

Good one Jerry. I like it; strong compo with storyline. You are great with the mobile phone. Here you have interestingly used the mobile phone to add to your storyline. i like the leading lines. I am one without a mobile phone as yet and here I see it as the one that carries your photo to the next level! Considering that it is a set up and you were in a photo walk; I would look at two other possibilities to make it a bit stronger. One, I would avoid the overlap of the mobile phone with the crowd making it distinct and less cluttered; or on the other side got more crowd with the overlap to show that the place is busy, crowded. This is just a suggestion. Good light to you Jerry.   Posted: 06/18/2018 22:09:37

Hello Jerry,
We see more and more this kind of picture (a picture with inside a camera taking a picture), and I am happy of that.
It is a combination of architecture and street motion.
When you start at the cellular phone you can make a circle sight (around the tube) with the metallic structures. I like that very much.
Always nice the photo shoot of camera club.   Posted: 06/21/2018 03:25:48
