About the Image(s)

I will be in Jamaica next week. Our first vacation in over a year.
The title is, Soft landing. It was taken at the Wakodahtchee Water Preserve in Delray Beach, FL with a Nikon Z6, nikon 280300mm f.3.5-5.6 lens at 150mm, f/36. 1/10, ISO 100 in RAW processed with Adobe CC, and then I dis a bit of work with curves, inverting, dodging and burning and a gradient map.

Art, what happened to this bird? you said it did a soft-landing! it doesn't look like to me. You night want review the landing procedures, that poor bird lost some feathers in the process. Jokes a part I have the impression that the idea is good but the adjustments were left unfinished. The image looks pretty noisy and as I said unfinished. I'm not impressed with this one. You can do better.   Posted: 04/02/2021 10:35:08

I love the abstract nature of this image. I like the complimenting pastels and how the image flows. In my opinion there is sufficient room for a moving/landing bird on the right. I like the diagonals and I think the texture is appropriate for the theme. I think the repeating wing pattern is a perfect frame for the body of the bird. I'd put this on my wall and I think it would do well in a gallery.

I appreciate the feedback. It is interesting how we all have different reactions to an image. This image, but in bw, just won image of the month in my club's monthly competition. I will enter this one in another competition. I like it better in color. Do you have a preference?   Posted: 04/07/2021 21:46:31

I think context would dictate my preference depending on where it was hung. Without the context...I prefer the color but can think of a lot of places the monochrome would work too.   Posted: 04/08/2021 07:23:40

Art, when I first glanced at your image I had to stop and spend time studying it. To me, the visual movement created by the bird's body makes this picture work in addition to the lighting, contrast and lovely soft colors. I like this alot and prefer the color version. Beautiful work!   Posted: 04/11/2021 12:49:48
