The Plague Sunset by Gabriele Dellanave, PPSA, BPSA

January 2021 - The Plague Sunset

About the Image(s)

Practically I have been in lockdown mode since March 4/20, except for a few exits for mostly medical reason and a couple of visits to our son in Minneapolis. I must give credit to photography for avoid a psychological breakdown alway present in this situation. So, I now have a large collection of flowers, sunsets, skies, nature and many more. This image here is one of the most dramatic images of a sunset. In December it rained a few days continuously here in Italy, and it still rain everyday now. Thank God I have a rooftop balcony with a 180º view of the valley below. This shot was take in mid morning what a Lumix G9, lens Vario Leica 7-14mm. A few touches of exposure, contrast, texture, saturation and more on LRc/PS did the rest. Ere it is for you judgement/critique. Happy New Year to the group

Sorry I must correct that the picture was taken in late afternoon not mid morning. Please, accept my apologies. The time indicated in the EXIF says 10:30am, but here I'm seven hours ahead of my home CST.   Posted: 01/03/2021 02:05:16

I agree that it as a dramatic and somewhat ominous image. I took the liberty of doing some work to create a more optimistic image. The warm tones in the image motivated me. I also see an end to this time of troubles.   Posted: 01/05/2021 22:26:38

Thank you Art. This morning I took out the original unprocessed file and believe me, as much as this image looks over processed, it si not. So I like to stick with my original choice, that sky was looking just the way we see it, after 2 long days of uninterrupted rain.   Posted: 01/09/2021 08:25:58

Wow! Incredible. Especially knowing that there was very little editing. In my eyes that makes the best photos. Beautiful Gabriele.
