About the Image(s)

This image was taken at Badlands National Park, South Dakota this summer. I used a Canon 6D MkII, Canon EF 100-400mm 4.5-5.6L IS II, 1/300sec., f/10, 234mm and ISO 2000. Basic processing in Lightroom, noise reduced in Topaz DeNoise AI, and then in Topaz Studio 2 using an “impression” look. I finished by adding a more interesting sunset sky using Luminar 4. I call it Praire Sunset.

Kurt you made a nice colorful image, however, in my opinion it is difficult to read that image. I think that there are 3 focal points and my eyes cannot decide which one is the main focal point. In my opinion the Bison's unseen had and face make it hard to read the image. I also that the image was a little dark and increased the luminosity accordingly.   Posted: 11/05/2020 12:26:21

I like what Gabrielle has done. I prefer more impact. For me, you have captured a the feeling of the west with lovely colors, and an interesting foreground, middle and gorgeous sky. I added a third buffalo and increased the contrast and saturation.   Posted: 11/05/2020 17:14:04

Kurtis, you took a so so photo and made it a very pleasant warm photograph. I do like that Art added one more bison but I prefer your version of the colors. Well done.

Kurtis, the colors in your picture are rich and beautiful, it is a relaxing scene. Adding a third bison seems to add more visual balance. Or, I wonder how it would look if the landscape was recomposed (PS) a bit to decrease some of the open space between the two bison? Then add the sunset sky as before, just a thought. The pleasing colors and scene would certainly look good on most any wall! A very nice picture.   Posted: 11/23/2020 15:27:48

Thanks for the feedback. The intent was to convey the open space of South Dakota. I felt the balance happened with the triangle formed by the bison and the sun.   Posted: 11/23/2020 15:46:30
