About the Image(s)

I do not believe that this image is going to win the "Image of the Year" grand prize, but when I thought about the title I could not stop my self from making a good laugh. We were on a Cloud Forest place in Ecuador. The employers of the resort were collecting donations to provide food for the hummingbirds, as a result you can see that they are pretty big and I think a bit oversized. In any case I was able to fill up a couple of SD cards. This was taken with a Nikon D7000 fitted with a 200-500 mm. Tamron tele zoom.Shutter speed 1/200; f./14; ISO 3.200. Final post process with PS/LRc. By the way the light conditions were atrocious, thick fog.

I like the conversation between the subjects. I think that by cropping more tightly, blurring and darkening the background and reducing the saturation of the bright pink feeder would draw more attention to the interaction between the birds.   Posted: 11/06/2020 22:02:23

This is a nice image of three hummers on a feeder. I don't think there is always a major story to tell other than wanting to share a nice image with your viewers. "No drama" is also a story. I agree with darkening the background but I think hummers need space so I'd leave the original composition as it was. I like the balance of the pink feeder base with the pink reflection on top of the water. I do think the shadows could be reduced to add a little more detail to the birds. What fun! Very nice.   Posted: 11/08/2020 07:57:20

Nice capture Gabriele and I love the title. It made me laugh as well. It's not easy to capture three hummingbirds at the same feeder at the same time. Most of the time they are fighting.

I really like this image Gabriele, and especially your title! The "facial expression" on the hummingbird in the center and also on the right is interesting. Are these two discussing the weather or are they eyeing each other because one thinks the other one got too much of the food?? A fun picture!   Posted: 11/23/2020 12:43:57
