Lockdown 2020 by Sunandan Ghosh

October 2020 - Lockdown 2020

About the Image(s)

Sending herewith my attempt of Still life on the Lockdown, 2020 due to COVID-19. India was in lockdown since March, 25, 2020,. Activities not contributing to the production and supply of essential goods and services were totally or partially suspended. Transportation system was halted. The lockdown had a tremendous impact on labourers. About 70 million or more workers lost their jobs.
I have tried to depict a moment of pathos of an unnamed worker.
Camera: Canon EOS 80D. ISO: 400, Aperture: f/4, Shutter speed: 1/60

I'm an expert but I think this's a remarkable image. Technically is almost perfect, I would only adjust the light on the statue. Good focus all around, the composition I think is remarkably well done. Sunandan I wish you would enter this image in some salons, in my opinion is an image worth some grand prizes. I can not disagree with Gabriele. What a marvelous composition. To me it's a piece of art that requires (No, demands) little or no explanation. I think there are just enough pieces to this puzzle to satisfy the imagination of anyone viewing it. I love the use of pastels without any one color screaming "Look at me". To my eye the central figure draws me into a story of desperation and grief. Just remarkable. Well done.   Posted: 10/06/2020 12:16:34

I agree with the above, well conceived and powerful. I think that cloning out some of the white spots on the background and toning down the bright left side would make it even more intense.   Posted: 10/07/2020 08:34:34
