Alien landscape by Art Jacoby

September 2020 - Alien landscape

About the Image(s)

Taken at Loxahatchee Everglades National Park with a Nkon D3, Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 lens at 28mm, f/11, 1/650, ISO 400, in RAW, processed with Adobe CC and then as if it were an infrared image. I used the CLIR ((creative Light Infra Red) panel's color twister and then a lot of experimentation in Photoshop.

It truly looks like an alien landscape. Nice bright colors but in my opinion it lacks what my friend Truman call the "wow" factor. I do not see the composition, I have hard time reading this image. Yes the colors are bright but I think that the tonal range is missing somewhere. Well not all images are a winners, right Art? Try it again, maybe next image will be the one for the Academy Award. 😂😂   Posted: 09/05/2020 15:49:47

I understand what you are saying. For me, it is the magenta colors descending to the land and waterway that that takes you to the foregound.   Posted: 09/06/2020 18:17:38

I love the imagination of this image. I have no idea what it is but I don't care. This reminds me of some of the great art you see hanging in really posh offices. To my eye the colors really pop and I think they could compliment almost any interior color scheme. I would love to see a large metal print of this image.   Posted: 09/08/2020 13:46:52

Art , you image is very creative and ARTSY.
I really like the effect and composition. I could meditate in front this image, and would have loved to stand in front this scenery . but there is a but that is very subjective. The magenta color is too bright for my eyes and doesn't work with the green and red, in my opinion ( As I said it is very subjective and not a critic) ...I really like the leading purpose of those clouds . Maybe more brown color? have you tried ? would be curious to see the difference . I really like the foreground , grass and reflection. Your attempt works for me except the magenta color.   Posted: 09/10/2020 11:37:27

Yes, Alien for sure!
I like your creativity with this one and love the colors you picked. I would love to see the original if you have time. Art I played with it a bit by cropping the top third of the photo off which reduced lots of the magenta and then it becomes more of a pano. Just a suggestion.

For some reason I was not able to save my changes so I can't show you. But, I still like your Art anyway.

I appreciate all the comments and feedback. I will upload the original image. I know the magenta clashes. I think the tile explains why.   Posted: 09/14/2020 22:03:03

Here it is toned down. I don't think it has the impact or interest of the original. However, it is subjective.   Posted: 09/14/2020 22:24:33
