Waves from Hurricane Dorian by Marge Barham

October 2019 - Waves from Hurricane Dorian

About the Image(s)

Just home from a beautiful trip to Rockport, Massachusetts. While there we spent some time one day watching waves and surfers from the beach. Hurricane Dorian hit Bermuda but stayed out to sea while heading north. It was far away from Rockports shore but we still saw huge 7 to 9-foot waves. I used my Canon 60D camera with Canon 100-400mm lens, setting were 120 mm, f8, 1/1600sec., ISO 200.

I think that you captured the action and dynamism of the waves and that the colors are great. For me, some of the whites lack detail. I used curves adjustments to bring back the details in the whites and to increase the contrast and drama. I also cropped out part of the sky because it lacked interesting clouds.   Posted: 10/08/2019 22:49:37

Nice capture Marge and you have successfully captured the wave action. You should also try a tripod and reduce your shutter speed to capture the effect of slow motion of the waves over the rocks. Nicely done though.   Posted: 10/14/2019 08:46:06
