About the Image(s)
This was taken on a rainy day in France on the Rhone river through a bus window. I was thinking of the French impressionists when I took it so the blurring caused by the rain drops on the window is intentional. Taken with a Nikon D4s, Nikon 20-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens at 28mm, f/5.6, 1/125, ISO 800, in RAW processed with Adobe CC, Nik Viveza and Color Efex Pro.

Stephen, it is most interesting that you shared this image with us. I can just hear our judges dismiss this with the comment "the light pole is dead centre and the man on the R is cut off" The June issue of the PSA Journal had a very good article, well worth reading, written by one of our DD members, Brian Swinyard, group no 21, 'What do judges know?'   Posted: 06/23/2018 14:12:31

Thank you Stephen. I don't remember if I have seen this painting, but I was thinking of paintings I have seen of Paris on a rainy day.   Posted: 06/04/2018 16:54:52

You have created a painting image Art. It illustrates mood and is very pleasing indeed. Well seen and executed.   Posted: 06/08/2018 00:25:53

Art, I love this photo. I love the blur, the color, and the soothing calm it gives me. Yes, I think of the old paintings from the past. Nicely done.

Congrats Art. This image one of ten chosen to represent our CC in an art gallery in Florida. After it was selected I heard some remarks about it being out of focus, so I took the liberty of giving your explanation of its being shot through a rainy window on a bus.   Posted: 06/13/2018 19:56:15

Nicely done image Art. I think the image is a nice one and a wonderful thinking "out-of-the-box" picture. You caught a nice "moment" and in a difficult light conditions. I would leave this image as is, no changes. And it proves that there's life (photography speaking) behind tigers, lions, and assorted wild animals.   Posted: 06/16/2018 09:39:43
I am sorry to be late.
I don't want to be too influenced by the remarks of others, so I am trying not to see those, while I give you my own thoughts.
I love this image for many reasons. The brightness of the umbrellas are in sharp contrast to the muted, misty look of the rest to it. The horizon is straight and the lines of the fence duplicate that. I feel that the use of the little light available shows well the important elements.
Very reminiscent of French impressionism.

Art, This is an absolutely fabulous image which I like very much. It is simple, it is complex and it works at many different levels. I love the impressionist feeling that you have created in what is essentially a grab shot taken through a bus window. I love the rich saturated colours of the umbrellas, all set against that diffuse, soft-focus background. As a photographer who has a reputation for 'Not doing sharp', I think your image is simply outstanding. Congratulations and very well done.   Posted: 06/24/2018 05:44:46
