Posing Horses by Kerstin Köneke

January 2018 - Posing Horses

About the Image(s)

This picture shows two baroque cavaliers with their Frisian horses. It is at the castle of Eutin where they are celebrating every second year a big historic festival. The cavaliers were posing for a official photographer for the festival. But I took the chance to get my own shot. It was not easy with the bright sunshine in the background and the big shadow of the tree. Plus I was struggling with the then new lens Canon 24-70. This lens is a bit slow in focusing and therefor this is the only useful photo I’ve got…. damn!
I put the picture through PS 6, because the building structures were blown out and the foreground was a bit too dark.
Technical informations: Canon 70 D, Lens Canon 24-70, F 2,8, ISO 100, 1/500 sec.

I think that you have captured the scene very nicely and that it tells a good story. I used Viveza, Color Efex Pro and some burning to bring out details in the shadows and tone down the background.   Posted: 01/12/2018 20:19:29

Nice pose Kerstin- it looks like painting. You're not saying what aperture you used . A 2.8 lens is a good choice. I like Art's suggestions.   Posted: 01/15/2018 09:00:56

Greatly composed scene. I like a lot how you composed the image, the tonal range as well, looks good, the exposition I perfect as well as the focus. Good job Kerstin.   Posted: 01/15/2018 11:09:43
