About the Image(s)

Camera data: iPhone 7+; FL 3.99 (in 35mm = 63mm)
f/1.8
Exp:1/13
ISO: 100
Hand held camera

This is an image taken June 17 with my iPhone 7+. I did only minor touch-up to straighten the image and adjust the size nothing else.
True the image is a classic post-card like image, but I like to point out the capabilities of this type of camera. Even I switched to a mirror less camera the weight of a bag with a body, 3 lenses and assorted accessory it still too much heavy for my old shoulders, therefore I’m trying to find a way to trim weight as much as I can. Yes, I can hear you arguing that this camera doesn’t have many controls, yes good observation, but tell me the truth how many of you are wasting time, when shooting pictures particularly when traveling, playing with the bells and whistles of your camera? The iPhone with its capabilities allows me to concentrate my attention totally to find the best frame and composition of the images.
I love to hear your comments.

I have no problem with camera phones.I find that that you need to do more post processing work to bring out the potential of the image. I like the subject and the colors. I did some work on it. I straightened out the horizon line, stretched out the building using the transform tool, gave the colors a boost, cropped some off the bottom, increased the contrast and sharpened the image.   Posted: 07/09/2017 22:52:23

As far as a telephone image goes you have achieved your objective and the image is nicely lit and colorful. I doubt that one would get a much better image worthy of carting the gear around.?
I believe that the telephone camera and its capabilities is a subject on its own and good for traveling and shooting trivialities. Maybe it is worth considering a " telephone camera division " group?   Posted: 07/13/2017 09:28:00

A very nice photo with the phone - I love the light situation. The only thing changing would be for me a straightened horizon as Art said.

Gabriele I totally understand what your saying. There is nothing wrong with wanting to go lighter. I try it all the time but then I'm usually sorry that I didn't have my better stuff. Instead of me going totally iphone, I think I am going to pull out my Canon G12 and use to see if that could be my alternative equipment.

I can not tell it comes from mobile phone camera if you don't say. Nowadays phone cameras are getting improved with more functions. And they are competing with the traditional gears. We may consider to sell our current lens in hands. Haha! Art did better corrections. However the sharpness and clarity may not change much since it is not RAW file. Let's use our current gears to take more beautiful photos before selling them.   Posted: 07/26/2017 16:51:59

When I look at the perspective issues and lack of sharpness, I think you've made a good argument for the conventional approach.   Posted: 07/27/2017 20:21:46
