October 2020 - Journey

About the Image(s)

Taken in the Painted Desert, Arizona. D7100 40mm 1/250s, f/8, ISO 110. Post processing to reduce some haze.

The desert has been there for eons, man hasn’t. I waited for him to descend a cliff and start his crossing, wondering whether his destination was in the physical realm or elsewhere. PS, I know part of the answer, what do you think?

I like the man in the photo amid the vast mountains. By the photo his journey is long with very little equipment. The sky amid the different ranges adds some color contrast. Very nice.   Posted: 10/08/2020 21:01:45

The presence of the man makes the picture, showing us the scale, the vastness of the site. I like the soft rolling terrain as shown by the soft shadows as opposed to his strong one. I also like the different texture of the ridge in back. I initially thought the bit of sky was distracting, but I think its contrasting color emphasizies the orange of the hills.   Posted: 10/16/2020 19:47:06

Good capture Ham. I really like the lines and colors and the nice sharp detail in this image. I agree that the walker really helps to make this picture. It's interesting to ponder, how the walker got there and where he is going without any equipment.   Posted: 10/18/2020 09:28:39

Beautiful capture and colors. The shade and line pattern of the desert are beautiful also. I like the person in the picture that gives the scale of the desert. I would crop out the sky so the image only includes the desert without the boring sky.   Posted: 10/19/2020 16:57:02
