Snow Leopard Portrait by Howard Frank

October 2020 - Snow Leopard Portrait

About the Image(s)

Taken at a recent visit to Brookfield Zoo. It was especially challenging as I had to shoot through a wire fence. Nikon D500 with 80 to 400 lens at 400mm, F6.3, 1/500 and ISO 400.

Nice photo complimented by the blurred background that accents the image. The coloring of the teeth and nose add a new dimension to the leopard and were captured beautifully. The fur almost has a silky feel as the detail is exquisite. Great photo!   Posted: 10/08/2020 20:57:25

The wrinkled nose and big paws say "Kitten." The teeth say "No." Well captured from the fur detail and catchlights to the soft focus background. Tho we had to cancel this month's trip to Chicago, when we do get there again, I definitely want to go to the Brookfield Zoo and the Chicago Botanical Garden. You have beautifully showed us a wealth of subjects there.   Posted: 10/16/2020 19:22:09

I feel like I'm the dinner being served to this 'kitty'. Excellent viewpoint and framing...just close enough to feel nervous and catch all the detail of this beautiful animal.
Very well imaged! Gulp!!   Posted: 10/19/2020 14:37:24

Love this image. I have one that I shot at the zoo in Colorado Springs several years ago while attending the PSA conference there. I truly appreciate in eliminating bars, etc. which are a part of most zoo images.
Very well done.   Posted: 10/19/2020 19:25:14
