About the Image(s)

I attended a series of workshops by Rad Drew. Rad is an accomplished photographer and has gone to very compact gear. Specifically an Iphone. After hearing Rad speak and in need of a new phone I got my first Iphone. The photo was taken with the Iphone 11 Pro at a dinner party, in a ballroom with very low lighting. The image was captured in the portrait mode on the phone and post processed in Snapseed.

You might have made this image with the subject as is and where it is. Good lighting but main subject, the glass has some distractions which got diffused.   Posted: 09/18/2020 03:11:33

You've captured something extraordinary from an ordinary subject, the last remains of a dinner. The light remaining in the glass and background after such a meal perhaps is the 'glow' we feel from such an experience. The shallow depth of field adds to that by softening the feeling I get. An excellent bit of storytelling!   Posted: 09/19/2020 11:09:23

I like the glow of the candle through the wine glass. It's amazing what smart phones can capture these days. It used to be that everything was always in focus. I like the effect of the selective focus.   Posted: 09/24/2020 09:46:50

Love the colors in the glasses, Peter! I would have preferred an image without the crumbly cake, tho it would have been less complex and not told the story. I, too, just got an iPhone 11 specifically for the DofF capability of the portrait mode tho mine only goes to 5x magnification, and I suspect yours does more?   Posted: 09/24/2020 18:30:58
