About the Image(s)

The image was made during my visit to Leh, in the Himalayas. That area is also known as cold desert. One day while strolling on a road, I happened to see this local lady and a dry tree. I thought of making her image in such a manner that it also reflects the local environment. I downloaded it and converted into B & W. Its such an area where we find less of greenery and a few people. I made it with Nikon D80 and Lens Nikon 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6

Good human interest image. I like the monochrome conversion. Good color and detail. It's nice to see some of your work which is not landscapes.   Posted: 05/17/2020 19:14:33

I really like this environmental, documentary image - it does tell us a bit about the local terrain. I also like it converted to B&W, but wonder if the colour version (although there appears to be not much colour in the scene) would give us some additional information as to the terrain and the inhabitants. The picture is sharp and the exposure is well done.

The terrain in colour may have given a better insight to her surroundings. I feel the tree and the lady fight as the point of interest. If you have enough pixels a crop of the lady may make a human interest piece and take the B&W conversion well.   Posted: 05/26/2020 21:26:49

The whole scene you are documenting in B&W looks cold and desolate. Along with Grace I'd also like to see a portrait of the woman, especially in color, because, in contrast, she looks pleasant: warm and inviting.   Posted: 05/26/2020 23:42:27
