Simplicity by Gunter Haibach

November 2019 - Simplicity

About the Image(s)

Taken with my Olympus E-M1, f16, 1/60s, ISO250, 40mm. Post-processing in RAW Conversion, Elements, NIK Plug-in. Saw this stand of trees in a drive through the country. I found the scene quite moody and interesting. Late fall, late afternoon, with what appeared to be a cold front moving in. But on the monitor at home, it did not feel the way I remembered - which happens quite frequently. So I decided to use what I had, and work with it. I found a filter in NIK, that actually gave this picture a totally different, yet interesting feel. Reduced the level of clouds, and left the trees as 'lonely little soldiers' in this sepia-finish. For me it created an image that was simple, yet kind of forced me imagine what was going in this simple composition - it made me think. Its not a WOW- picture, but maybe one of 'what is this image trying to say to me?'- pictures. Maybe nothing, or maybe something.

I like the simplicity and am drawn back into the clouds. Tho I usually like a dark vignette, the white is effective here with the aged look of the sepia. Perhaps crop a bit off the top.   Posted: 11/06/2019 15:08:44

I really like the moodiness and feel of this image. Detail and textures are good and the vignette helps keep the eye going to where you want it. I always like mono images in sepia.   Posted: 11/17/2019 12:30:01

A fine example, simplicity is beautiful and serenity conveys a lot. But here the credit goes to your observations and creativity.   Posted: 11/19/2019 08:38:51

Very nice vignette. I like the monochromatic tone of the picture. Perhaps Nik plug-in brought up noise. The noise level of the image seems a little bit high.   Posted: 11/27/2019 22:22:09
