About the Image(s)

The image was taken at Florence OR before sunrise. While the sea stacks and ocean are much more interesting photographic subjects, i was also attracted to the bridge over the river and thought a before sunrise shot would be the best capture of the bridge

Canon 5D Mk III, 24-70 L Lens at 62mm, f22, ISO 200, 4.0 seconds.

Very nice photo of the bridge. However, I find it somewhat flat. I might have lighten up the lightest the wooden piers to draw the viewers eye into the photo toward the bridge. I found your sky a little weak. In darking up the sky I found you had some nice sunrise sky. I adjusted your photo to bring out the sky. Hope you don't mind my working on your photo.   Posted: 04/03/2021 14:12:09

It pays off being an early bird. The light is just beautiful and the composition is spot on. A longer exposure time would have given a more painterly look. I like Richardīs suggestion but toned it down a bit and let reflect in the water.   Posted: 04/04/2021 02:17:50

I really like the light and the way it produces a soft almost glow to the scene. I also think you did a great job with the diagonals in the composition. To me the bridge and the reflections are the stars of the show, but I feel the blank sky that nearly matches the tone of the bridge is not doing any favors to the scene. The sky is just too bright and draws interest away from the stars.

If there is even a little bit of color in the original that could be brought into play, that might make a big difference.   Posted: 04/04/2021 15:02:28

I like the composition, light on the bridge, and the subtle sense of movement in the water from the 4 sec exposure. Not sure about the cream sky color as my eye goes right to it. Maybe using an ND filter would have turned the water into a misty blur and played up the foreground a bit more drawing less attention to the sky. I wonder how this image would look in B&W. Overall nice image.   Posted: 04/10/2021 08:53:19

Michael, a lovely sharp image and a beautiful bridge. I especially love the water, and where the groynes lead me. My eye was drawn when looking from left back to the white object in trees. Maybe cloning it out.

love the colouring and agree that the sky could be enhanced with a bit of colour. Another early riser!   Posted: 04/11/2021 14:17:36

I really love the bridge with the pilings in the foreground and the reflection of the bridge piers in the water. I agree with the others that the sky is very bland and does not do the image any favors. I saw Richard's treatment of the sky, but I think it looks over processed. You could try adjusting the sky's brightness, or contrast to try to tease out some detail. Another thing to consider is a sky replacement, but with the bridge that could be some work.   Posted: 04/14/2021 23:36:35
