Snapple Mountain Valley by Michael Jack

October 2019 - Snapple Mountain Valley

About the Image(s)

Specs: Canon 5D MkIV, ISO 800, f9, 1/80 sec, 24mm from Canon 24-105 f4L lens

Taken in Southwestern CO in October. Aspens were turning yellow while some other trees had yet to turn color. Some rain was coming out of the clouds over the mountains, but it seems the effect of the mountains was to stop rain and cloud movement toward the valley. It was early morning so the sun was just beginning to move into the valley.

Wonderful photo of fall colors, mountains and the clouds. I modifed your photo to bring out the colors of the trees and the blue in the sky. Couldn't resist, sorry.   Posted: 10/10/2019 11:40:02

Thanks Richard. Sometimes going from raw to an edited picture makes you think you have gone far enough, but it is always better to have another view and opinion   Posted: 10/10/2019 15:09:24

Nice location. You have captured the scene very well with right DOF. Richard's edited version is better no doubt but not always real situation/environment/lighting are not so perfect. So I liked the way you captured.   Posted: 10/10/2019 23:01:53

Michael, Wow, a really nice image. I really like the layering with the colors in the foreground, the mountains in the background and the sky capturing the distance. I have been going back and forth between your image and Richards version for 15 minutes now and think that more color is correct but not quite as much as in Richards version. Keep in mind that that is just my opinion. Great picture.   Posted: 10/12/2019 09:51:52

I look at your photo and try to determine whether it is a photo or a painting! I like it both ways, each viewpoint arouses aesthetic and artistic in its own way that would keep the eyes of the beholder on the palette!
I have no suggestions to improve since it needs no improvement, in my humbe opinion!   Posted: 10/12/2019 12:23:40

A very beautiful landscape shot at the right moment. It is only my opinion, but I would lower the color intensity just a bit. Very well done!   Posted: 10/15/2019 01:10:56

Wow, thats a great image! I love that sky and the fall colors! As far as saturation goes, I think your image is fine the way it is. I prefer fairly saturated images, but yours looks pretty saturated to these eyes. I wouldn't change a thing.   Posted: 10/23/2019 16:22:41
