Foggy Morning by Arne Skinlo

January 2018 - Foggy Morning

About the Image(s)

Equipment:
Canon 5D mark 3
Lens: Canon EF 24-105 f/4
Settings: 90 mm, 1/250 sec. f/22, ISO 160.

The picture was taken at the west coast of Norway on a quiet foggy morning. As you might see from the original picture, it is a color picture, but due to the foggy light it appears as B&W. I am a but uncertain about the composition as it is much darker on the left side.

To me it is a bit like an illustration to a fairy-tale where the root in the midle is the troll coming up from the sea.

Arne, this photo needs a lot of help. I would lighten the side of the building, and the items in front of the buildings which would help the composition. I would crop the photo and eliminate the lone island on the right and some of the space at the bottom of the photo. Question, is that ice on the lake? Fog is really hard to bring out, but I like the fog on the trees and the water in the back of the photo.   Posted: 01/13/2018 15:52:26

Hi Richard, I agree with your comments and have made a new version of it. I think it has improved quite a lot :).   Posted: 01/14/2018 13:20:06
