About the Image(s)

These mushrooms were several feet off of a trail in the Smokey Mountains. I had stopped to photograph another view, else I would have walked right on by them.
Shot with a Fuji X-T2 full spectrum with 590nm filtration.
Processed with R-B swap, Viveza for some global structure and contrast. Followed by Sivereffects then lots of localized adjustments of curves and slight adjustment of Selective Colour.

What a treat, Terry! I like the high contrast you've used, to help the little mushrooms stand out. It's interesting you've cropped to just four (given that some prefer odd numbers) but I like this rather than include one of the misshapen ones, or cloning another in.   Posted: 12/06/2020 16:38:16

Yeah, it was simpler to just crop to these four.
The lighting was pretty flat, being under a dense forest canopy, so I thought the image needed quite a bit of structure and contrast.

What a lovely shot. These little mushrooms look pristine and like mini brollies sitting on this hard bark. Great combination and great structure on the bark giving good contrast to show up these little gems. I personally feel the grain in the cloud area detracts for me and would prefer this area to be softer. But its' only my opinion. Maybe I'm a sucker for soft clouds! Fantastic image.

This is pure delight. Your cropping of the original was precise as the curves of the wood nicely compliment the structure of the mushrooms. Even the sky helped you as it filled a blank area with a soft "fuzzy" that is so different from the rest of the scene. Great printing too.   Posted: 12/13/2020 07:50:20

I love the simplicity of this image. I am one of thos who always likes to see odd numbers, so I would consider cloning out the smallest mushroom at the bottom. The smooth curved lines draw my eye upward through the image, and the softness of the clouds provides a nice contrast to all the texture in the tree trunk. In my opinion, the sky looks a little bit grainy and I would suggest running Topaz AI DeNoise or similar noise reduction program.   Posted: 12/13/2020 10:47:49

How cute!!! Those mushrooms are just delightful. There is grain a/o noise in that sky though, since it is a soft sky perhaps a bit of a blur would help. I have found sometimes noise gets extra crunchy in IR and there isn't a whole lot that really works.....   Posted: 12/13/2020 15:00:03

What an unusual image. The mushrooms are delightful as is the texture in the bark. I think I would crop this image to a square which would place even more emphasis on the mushrooms and it would also reduce the amount of sky in the image. I too would blur or reduce the noise in the sky. I use the blur tool when all else fails.   Posted: 12/14/2020 08:41:57

I'll take a look at a square format but my thought was the curvilinear line of the 'shrooms suggested a slightly vertical format.   Posted: 12/14/2020 10:52:10

Great idea of shooting something a bit different. I like the processing and cropping with the vertical line going up.
I cannot think of anything else to improve.   Posted: 12/21/2020 11:12:58

This makes me think of a group of Asians climbing
a mountain side with clouds in the distance.   Posted: 12/21/2020 12:11:18
