About the Image(s)

This is another water lily from my last outing. I liked the flower but to me, it was lost in all the lily pads. I applied my basic LR swap and did a big crop on the photo. Seeing the flower was a little softer than I would like, I decide to go creative. I used DeNoise AI before I did anything to the flower. Then using PS Select Tools, I separated the flower from the background. On the background layer, I did some spot cleanup and applied a blur to further soften it. On the flower layer, I applied a radial filter to provide the color. Since I didn't clip it, both the background and flower were colored. I used an Abstract filter in TS2 to bring out some "detail" in just the flower. Next, I went into On1 for the vignette which added a bit of lightness to the background. Back in PS, saw a few more spots I wanted to remove. This is where I landed. I wasn't going to process this but I sort of like it now!

I like the high key look very much. Fantasy is a good title, but the first word that came to my mind when I looked at it was, "ephemeral," which I think suggests something that is fleeting. In my opinon this would make a beautiful canvas print - as large as possible. Icould see it taking up a lot of wall space. For me it evokes a calm, peaceful feelng.   Posted: 11/14/2020 16:01:06

Thanks, I could not for the life me think of a suitable title. I'm still very surprised at how it turned out.   Posted: 11/16/2020 11:27:48

I love the subtle tones in this image and you've done well to disguise the background so that it doesn't compete with the main subject. Another beautiful image from you.   Posted: 11/15/2020 13:38:57

Thank you, I wasn't sure if subtle would work and it is a big departure from my usual processing. Appreciate your kind words.

Wow - you did a lot of detail work on this to arrive at an absolutely beautiful image. I'm not much of a flower photographer and generally pass by those pictures but yours grabs my attention as it so different. I can only say that it is a job well done and hope that others (photographers or not) enjoy it as much as I did.   Posted: 11/16/2020 08:37:12

Glad you enjoyed! I enjoy processing photos but this one was a very different approach from what I usually do.   Posted: 11/16/2020 11:31:30

You certainly rescued this delicate flower from your original. At first I did not care for the pink but repeated looks convinced me that it is THE colour for this image. Nice.   Posted: 11/23/2020 14:57:17
