About the Image(s)

This was taken with my usual D200 Converted Nikon lens and was taken outside a small Village Church near Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District. The Cross was straightened and cropped in the original before taking the image into the CLiR software which I am trying to get to grips with. At the moment it is a case of pressing a lot of different buttons to get an effect I like, but I am finding it difficult to organise a workflow that 'works' as it is all experimental - so difficult to explain HIDI. In fact - impossible. I am hoping that the more I use it all will get clearer.

I like the simplicity of this image and the way your processing has brought out all the detail in the stone steps and cross. I also like the detail in the sky. A very pleasing scene. Is CLiR software specifically designed for infra red photography? I've not heard of it.   Posted: 08/07/2019 14:06:18

Yes Julie. It is specifically made for IR through Blake Rudis of F64 Academy and Tonee Gee who invented the software.   Posted: 08/10/2019 05:55:51

I think you're doing a great job using the CLiR! Made me want to try the software as well. I love the colors and the details you have here. So beautiful! The only thing I would do is to darken the ground and bring out the lambs/goats? They will add a lot of interests to the image!   Posted: 08/08/2019 01:49:51

This is stunning! For my eye, the background is just that with the cross and steps being the star. I didn't even noticed the sheep at first . I find I like and stick with a couple of things in CLiR but I will experiment just to see what comes about.   Posted: 08/11/2019 17:26:04

As always with your images, the first thing I notice is your excellent use of color. I too have looked at the CLir but haven't taken the leap as yet. Maybe this fall. I wish some of the sheep were more in the foreground...for me it would add to the story, almost a metaphor for "Lamb of God." But we work with what we get. As it is, I think I would remove a few of the sheep that are very close to the edge of the frame on the left. Otherwise, I think this is as lovely as all the other work or yours that I have seen.   Posted: 08/14/2019 10:07:50

I too am struggling with CLiR! Technically I like what you did as the color of the trees is not garish or unnatural. There is a "softness" to them so they don't draw attention away from the cross. In looking at the overall scene I feel something is missing. Why are there steps to the cross? Is there a church building nearby with the cross being a part of the overall scene? Nevertheless, your image makes me stop and examine the scene and I like it.   Posted: 08/15/2019 08:43:05

I do like the look and feel of the image. Very nice colors.
Had to look close to see the animals.
Maybe crop a bit off of the left, up to the tree.   Posted: 08/22/2019 16:02:22
