About the Image(s)

We took a trip to several National Parks from New Mexico to Utah in May, everywhere was flooded with tourists from all over the world to say the least. I started photograph the tourists instead of waiting or fighting with everyone for a good spot to photograph or them been photographed or taking their selfies.
Nikon F3 infrared converted at f14, 1/200s, ISO 200 24-120lens @95mm
I did a very simple and straight forward processing in Adobe Camera Raw converted in Black and White mode.

This cameo puts a different perspective on IR and I quite like it. These people are like aliens strutting around. I particularly like the lady sitting on the rock. She almost looks like she is sitting in the hand of the rock. Brave woman. She is going to get an awful clatter if she falls. Love that cloud overhanging the main subject. If I were to suggest anything it would be to darken down the base or a vignette to draw your eye towards the rock. Perhaps cropping in from the right would also help concentrate on the main area.   Posted: 10/11/2018 03:35:51

This is a fun image. I know that all the parks are jammed with people in the summer and it is tough to get a scene without them, so you have made the best of it. I like that the tourists are in groups of 3. Did you do that on purpose or was it a lucky shot? I would suggest cropping a tiny bit on the left to eliminate that bit of rock and a little more on the right to just past the first two rocks. Adding a vignette would help keep my eye in the scene.   Posted: 10/16/2018 13:27:43

Thank you all! I'll try all of your suggestions. The grouping of the tourists was pure lucky shot.
Debbie, it was that woman who caught my eye for making the shot.   Posted: 10/17/2018 01:52:23

Great image but I so dislike that woman (her actions not the photo) sitting up on the rock. It might help to do a bit of crop but overall, i would be very happy with this photo. Good job!   Posted: 10/16/2018 17:49:12

It is a shame that people clamber all over these rocks. I have been to the Arches National Park a couple of times and found the same problem there. I think, however, that you have done well in difficult circumstances to achieve an interesting photo. I agree with Sharon's suggestions regarding cropping the image on the left and right.   Posted: 10/17/2018 10:51:38

It is aggravating when you get to a great location to find it swarming with DT's (damn tourists). Since thy have a right to be there, there isn't anything that you can do but look for an interesting subject that involves a couple taking selfies against the beautiful subject. It has happened to me in Yosemite so either use it to your advantage or just take a "mental" picture of the object that you desperately wanted to photograph in the first place.   Posted: 10/20/2018 16:14:16
