About the Image(s)

I went to Knoxville Tn for the 4th of July, to visit friends and family, went for a walk around The University of Tennessee campus with my cameras. Found this interesting water fountain, it's called Europa and the Bull and is a sculpture located in the fountain on the Humanities and Social Sciences Plaza. The statue is a replica of Carl Milles' original Europa and the Bull, which is housed in Millesgarden in Stockholm, Sweden.

Shot with my Nikon d5100 at 1/640 sec, f 5.6, ISO 125, 46mm from my 18-70 zoom.

Processed in Lightroom, swapped colors in Photoshop, also used the Topaz Glow plugin.

This is indeed a very powerful and strong image Nelson. What a find. The image leans slightly to the left a little as it does in the original, but in my eyes it further strengthens it. Great sky. The blue toning is just perfect for this type of subject. Fantastic image. Well done.   Posted: 07/11/2017 12:23:28

I don't quite understand this one as it is a sculpture and a lot was cropped off. When you show this type of artwork I feel all of it should be shown so the viewer fully understands the subject.   Posted: 07/15/2017 10:04:12

The sky really sets the mood for this image. Somehow, to me it looks ominous! It took a few minutes to figure out the diagonal lines coming from the bull's nostrils, but I presume that is water? I too would like to see more of the sculpture and see where that water goes. I think the glow effect works well here and is not one bit overdone.   Posted: 07/15/2017 13:36:26

This is certainly a striking image and the colour is lovely but I do wonder whether including the whole statue would have improved it. Did you leave the lower part of the statue out because it added nothing to the overall picture or even distracted from the main subject? Could you have taken the whole statue from a low view point?   Posted: 07/20/2017 12:45:36

I have several angles and shot of this, but this is the one I liked. Also trying to cut out other items from the background. Focusing more on the Europa subject.   Posted: 07/24/2017 13:33:28
