Tatu Korhonen
I am a retired Finnish amateur photographer, born in 1955. I live in Helsinki but spend every year about 5 months in my summer cottage in the middle of Finland next to a large lake. I started my working years as Navy and Merchant Navy sailor, but after a lot of further education was able to leave the sea life and have a decent office job in a large shipping company in my early thirties. I am married with 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren. As I was able to retire at the age of 60, I've got a lot of time for my many hobbies and activities, of which photographing has been the dearist one.
I have quite a collection of good vintage cameras and lenses. I do photograph with both film and digital cameras. One of my hobbies is to adapt all sorts of lenses for my mirrorless digital cameras. I use good old vintage llenses in my DSLR, too. I have one of my cameras converted to full spectrum, which I use for the B&W IR photographing.
I have done almost every sort of photographing but not portraits. I used to live my childhood in the sea fortress Suomenlinna, which is a historical world heritage place nowadays. I have photographed on those islands a lot, in every season and every weather. My summer home at the lakeside with a tiny birdtower and surrounding forests are my dear nature photographing places. As I live in a suburban area next to forests in Helsinki, I often shoot the small wonders of the nature also nearby. I like the seaside and islands a lot. However, the urban street photographing is exiting and challenging.
I am also member of the Royal Photographic Society (UK). I made the LRPS several years ago, and planning to try the ARPS in near future. In the PSA I am a digital new member, and looking forward to widen my photographing skills and view, as well as connecting myself to others likewise addicted.
I am also in Flickr and my numerous albums and photos are easily accessed by typing 'Tatu Korhonen Flickr' in the Google.
