Golden Gate Bridge by Marilyn Peake

February 2021 - Golden Gate Bridge

About the Image(s)

I took this photograph of the Golden Gate Bridge in 2017.

I shot this handheld with a Nikon D7200, f/20, 1/160 sec., ISO-400. In Photoshop, I increased overall saturation, increased saturation of red and blue, and added a curves adjustment layer.

I visit san fransisco on 2019. Composition in this photo was good. I just imagine what if this image is changed to black and white. Will it more interesting ?   Posted: 02/05/2021 03:53:07

That's a great idea. I'll have to try that. Thanks!   Posted: 02/06/2021 23:32:32

Fine picture of this famous bridge. I like that the background of the upper part of the bridge is foggy. Together with the little ships it gives you an idea of how mighty this bridge is. The composition of the image as well as their colors are successful.   Posted: 02/05/2021 06:13:52

Thanks so much, Raymond! I was really lucky that day. There was quite a bit of fog and there were lots of boats sailing under the bridge.   Posted: 02/06/2021 23:34:02

Technically, and aesthetically nice work. All I can ask for is a chance to shoot this subject myself, some day.
Well done.   Posted: 02/05/2021 23:28:30

Technically you have taken this classics view well, all is sharp and the colours are good. Shame you have an English sky, bright sky or the classic mist would make more of this. I would have shot this image 5 seconds later so that white boat was the other side of the shadow.
I know the bridge starts in the bottom left corner, but I look at this and my head is wanting more on the bottom and the left, not knowing this well and there may be some monstrosity sitting there. Magneto will come and move everything anyway.   Posted: 02/08/2021 06:51:53

Thanks, Paul. I seem to remember there were a lot of distracting buildings and also groups of people to the side and bottom of the photo, so I worked around that.   Posted: 02/10/2021 21:10:09

Don't you hate the overcast in San Fran...? Very nice photo as you captured the essence of the scene. Just a suggestion to try... The actual "railing" of the roadway is a bit dark, might be nice to boost that up to get similar color as in the towers. (I know towers where in the sun and the back side of the bride in shadow, but that's where the creative gets to shine.   Posted: 02/08/2021 16:38:28
