Namafjall Geothermal Area by Marilyn Peake

September 2020 - Namafjall Geothermal Area

About the Image(s)

I took this photograph at the Namafjall Geothermal Area in Iceland. It's a really incredible place. It felt like being on another planet. I liked that there was a photographer in the scene when I took this photograph.

I shot this handheld with a Nikon D7200, f/9, 1/400 sec., ISO-400. In Photoshop, I increased the overall saturation and increased the saturation of blue an additional amount. I also increased the contrast.

This really gives the impression of another world. I also like that you included the photographer. I do wish that the photographer were a little further to the left of the photo. I wonder if you could move her/him over just to the point of the brown soil. It would give her/him more importance. I do like the composition and the perspective you gave this treasure.   Posted: 09/05/2020 00:15:32

Thanks so much, Elizabeth! I love your idea of moving the photographer over to the left. I could do that in non-realism categories that allow that kind of editing. Thanks for the suggestion.   Posted: 09/05/2020 23:47:04

When the wife came back from her trip there, she said the same. Said it must be like being on Mars with air. If you fit and capable it must be one of your 10 places to visit before your die. Looks like you had a good visit but the weather was not your friend. Nice steam.   Posted: 09/12/2020 06:41:37
