Lake Märjelensee by Raymond Zurschmitten, QPSA

August 2020 - Lake Märjelensee

About the Image(s)

We hiked to Märjelensee, where the banks of several small lakes were covered with cotton grass. As there was no wind, the water surface was smooth, which allowed us to take a nice photo of the mirror image with the mountains on the opposite side.

Settings: Fuji X-T2, lens 22 mm, aperture 22, shutter speed 1/125 sec, ISO 450, minimum Lightroom processing

What a lovely scene. And well captured. I could sit where you stood and enjoy this all day. Sharp, nice composition. Well done. I do not know where Marjelensee is, but you surely have some lovely scenes in your area.   Posted: 08/02/2020 21:17:16

Thank Elizabeth for your comment. Märjelensee is located on the edge of the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps. There are many beautiful places here which are worth visiting and photographing.   Posted: 08/08/2020 08:08:02

Very nice location, the flowers and reflection make a really nice composition. There just one thing that bothers me and that is the middle of the photos is a dark swath. It almost makes this two photos. I'm trying to come up with a nice suggestion to fix it, but other than lighting up the entire foreground, I'm in a quandary.   Posted: 08/19/2020 13:39:56

Thank you very much for your comment. What I cannot see in my picture is the dark stripe mentioned. Could you describe or show it to me in more detail?

I still can't see the dark stripe - we must have two differently adjusted screens   Posted: 08/21/2020 03:25:40

I never said stripe....
I said "Swath" Translation. = a long broad strip or belt
meaning the entire area with red overlay... which in my mine is too dark and needs brightening.   Posted: 08/21/2020 11:46:07

That's a gorgeous photo! The colors work beautifully together and the shapes add a lot of interest. The reflection in the water is stunning.   Posted: 08/21/2020 04:20:24

Another beautiful scene from the Alps, been up to something similar and sat and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity that you get, when the sun just catches these cotton grass the colour and light just explodes. You have framed the scene well and have a nice little reflection, the clouds add good depth to the image. Lovely picture.   Posted: 08/21/2020 09:55:08
