About the Image(s)

This is a hand held shot taken this last Sunday, at the John Wayne Trail (Palouse to Cascades State Park, the former ROW for the Milwaukee Road RR.) The subject is the tower, which held an oil tank when this place was operational. The image was tone mapped in HDR Effex Pro 2. I desaturated the red to make the tower look a little more surreal. The location is a bit sketchy due to the inhabitants of the neighborhood, today. The graffiti on this side of the tower is some of the more mild "wall art" offered in the neighborhood.

You have produced an interesting finish to this image with a good feel to this, with the graffiti and the dead looking tree you have a good base for something more, next is to catch a good lighting strike and change the sky to something dramatic and turn this into to something that pops. Just an idea.   Posted: 07/08/2020 12:17:25

I liked what you did with the post processing, giving a little more definition to the clouds, cropping nicely, and the color change. The scene just saddens me as it shows how we use things and then just toss em...   Posted: 07/08/2020 17:05:38

I really like this image. The individual elements work well together to make the scene haunting and sad: the dead tree and yellow grass, the graffiti and the dark sky. The blue graffiti matching the sky and the yellow graffiti matching the yellow grass work nicely to tie the picture together. You did a good job in post-processing. The original photograph isn't nearly as vibrant and you did a good job with cropping the photo and straightening the tower.   Posted: 07/14/2020 04:00:35

Good picture with matching elements: well worn out brick building, dead trees and the dried-up environment. The cloud image is appropriate. I like the wires (power lines ?) in the background, which run towards the building. When you look at the picture, there is immediately a great interest what the story is in connection with this tower.   Posted: 07/19/2020 10:43:44
