June 2020 - Katzensee

About the Image(s)

Specifications: X-T2, shutter speed 1/30 s., aperture 11, ISO 200, lens: 50 - 140 mm (here 77 mm).

Story: At the beginning of April I went early in the morning to the Katzensee nature reserve near Zurich. The way along the border was very photogenic. Despite the cold, I waited until the sun shone all the way up the fence posts before I took the photo.

You wait in the cold certainly paid off. The light fog and what looks like frost really adds detail and interest to the scene. I also like the curve of the fence that shows there is a bend in the road and it makes me want to know what is around the bend. That sense of anticipation really adds to the image.   Posted: 06/04/2020 15:52:27

I do have to compliment you on your chose of position for this image, I do think you could have got this any better. That waiting paid off for a wonderful splash of light that complimented that frosted field that just draws the viewers eye into the image. It is such a simple image that is full of views that you cannot help but stop and look. I one of those, if you get what I mean.   Posted: 06/12/2020 09:16:44

Thanks Paul for your feedback. There are moments when you need to capture a picture and feel good about it. At home on the computer this feeling becomes concrete and you can learn from it. This picture was a good match between the impression and the result.   Posted: 06/16/2020 04:36:02

This is perfect tranquility. Patience is a wonderful virtue that few have. The lighting is so soothing and beautiful. I would put it on canvas and hang it over my sofa or in the first spot anyone sees in my house. Very nicely done.   Posted: 06/14/2020 15:04:21

Very nice scene! I love the colors and the way the path leads you right into the rest of the scene. The frost on the fields adds a nice touch.   Posted: 06/14/2020 23:46:34
