St Valentine Chapel and Sciliar Massif, Alpe di Siusi by Peter Clark, APSA, GMPSA, EFIAP/p, FRPS

December 2019 - St Valentine Chapel and Sciliar Massif, Alpe di Siusi

About the Image(s)

This small church with its frescos from the 14th and the 15th century lies under the Scillar Massif in the Alpe di Siusi in the Dolomites.
Captured in infrared on a converted Panasonic Lumix G3 with the Lumix 12-32mm lens set at 15mm (35mm equivalent 30mm), f8, 1/100 sec, -0.33 exposure compensation, ISO160, hand held.

Converted to true monochrome in SEP2 and refined on a masked CEP 4 Detail Extractor and a CEP 4 Pro Contrast layer. Further adjustments were made on a series of Curves adjustment layers, some masked and fine tuned on a Shadows/Highlights layer. As usual this jpeg was sharpened using the High Pass filter in Soft Light mode and sharpening halos removed where necessary.

Another super landscape, as expected!
I like the way the church and the mountains seem to eco each other.   Posted: 12/22/2019 05:18:00

Beautiful image. I remember your mention of a trip to the Dolomites. A great choice of perspective with the peak of the church mimicked by the mountain peak. One leads to the other and moves the eye around the image. Just wondering how difficult it was to find this viewpoint? The choice of infrared was a great choice.   Posted: 12/22/2019 14:52:35
