About the Image(s)

This was taken last summer in my backyard. I'm including another photo of the lupin plant, not the same image, just something to show you what my subject was. Taken with my Nikon Z6, Nikon 105 macro with adaptor (lens does not have the z-mount for the Z6), F20. Minor cropping and then into Topaz for AI and some color adjustments to enrich the color. Topaz also has a vignette option that I like to use as I can adjust it in a way to spotlight the area where I want to draw the eye. In this case, the green part of the flower, near the bottom of the image.

I like the cropping idea. It makes all the difference. I think that I would like it still more if the hues of the reds didn't change so much from the tip around to the portion of the lupin that is close to the tip.   Posted: 01/02/2021 15:33:52

Looking at it a day later, I now do like the change in hue.   Posted: 01/03/2021 11:08:01

I was going to reply to you that the actual colors vary on the flower as they open up. I see what you were saying, but some variation makes it more natural.   Posted: 01/03/2021 12:44:43

Nice picture, nice colors. Good image.   Posted: 01/02/2021 17:02:56

A good change of presentation. Your composition is very nice, middle is somewhat empty and I was looking to find something. The soft overall photo gives a very warm feeling. Nice cropping presentation.   Posted: 01/03/2021 15:02:07

A very nice composition, Dorinda. I like the colors and the complementary blue-gray background that really makes the lupin stand out. I have no changes to suggest, although the bright shiny spot in the upper LH corner is a bit distracting and doesn't seem to be contributing much to the composition and the focus on the green part of the image.   Posted: 01/08/2021 10:01:53

Easy fix. Thanks for noticing the bright spot.   Posted: 01/08/2021 11:14:51

Nice sharp capture Lovely color palette The center being empty draws my eye perhaps it could be lighter like your original picture I would like to see it flipped horizontal and left to right   Posted: 01/08/2021 22:34:38

Judy, I did try flipping it in all directions but prefer the original. It is the sort of image where it would just be a matter of personal preference as to which direction it is presented.   Posted: 01/09/2021 11:20:03

Even though that is not the original shot, I can imagine that your choice of composition make it more interesting than the original. I like the darkness of the image you captured. I don't feel it needs to, but I think Judy's suggestion of flipping it also works really well. Great colors too.   Posted: 01/12/2021 11:18:44

I thought I'd try emphasizing the dark center of your image.   Posted: 01/17/2021 14:55:10
