About the Image(s)

Still effectively confined to home, so looking for more subjects to photograph. Strangely, I got this idea from a US postage stamp. I bought a sheet of stamps and it was all still lifes of fruits and vegetables. Perhaps you have seen it? We have a very nice fruit/vegetable stand near us where we buy fresh produce. A trip there was all it took! Used my 105mm macro on a tripod, cable release. North facing window with some auxillary lighting with my small Lume Cube light panel. Processing in LR and Topaz. Used a very slight oil paint effect from Topaz.

It is a colorful, seasonally appropriate subject. Being confined, either for personal health reasons or the darn virus can become a challenge. Photographing helps, and it looks most of us are gaining experience with macros. I find it mildly disquieting that the potentially dirt-covered carrots are alongside the "clean" above ground products of apples and squashes. Photographically, it seems that the transition from full brightness to fairly significant darkening in the vignetting is pretty sharp. I'd like it better if the transition were more gradual.   Posted: 11/02/2020 19:01:09

Great color and it heralds in the fall season. Colors are mouth watering, focus very sharp and composition is all you could ask for at a out door market. It shows the beauty of nature along with the warts and in this case it is the stem on the yellow and white pumpkin.. When you go to a market, you get what they provide. Good eye.   Posted: 11/05/2020 04:50:11

I agree with Robert and Tom However I think there is more information than we need I would crops so that only the content of the basket is the image   Posted: 11/05/2020 16:08:00

For this image, I wanted more of a cornucopia effect with produce spilling out. Cropping more would negate that effect.

Nice still life, very nice colors, I do not think that crop is required.   Posted: 11/10/2020 17:42:06

I think you did well with the still life aspect. The colors are really fresh and I like how you captured leading lines and elements with the carrots in the basket. The image feels a little flat. The elements are so realistic, I feel like you need some more contrast with lights and shadows.   Posted: 11/11/2020 12:48:48

Wonderful job with everything sharply in focus. The colors are great, a welcomed comfort in these uncomfortable times. I wonder about the auxiliary lighting - it produces a glare off of the vegetables particularly the apple and the squash that detracts from the vivid colors.   Posted: 11/11/2020 14:25:38
